While Rajendra was pursuing his Software Engineering degree, he came in contact with Pt. Manohar Chimote, a genius, and maestro in the art of Samvadini Playing. This meeting with his Guru Pt. Manohar Chimote was a turning point in Rajendra's life. Rajendra started learning music and art of playing Samvadini under the tutelage of Pt. Chimote and is still continuing to learn and explore this magical instrument called “Samvadini” ( a modified version of Harmonium made suitable to play solo performances)Rajendra has toured India and United States of America for his solo performances on Samvadini. He also has got the privilege of accompanying world acclaimed artists like Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pt. Anindo Chatterjee, Pt. Jasraj, Pt. Rajan Sajan Mishra, Smt. Veena Sahasrabuddhe, Smt. Ashwini Bhide Deshpande Smt. Laxmi Shankar and quite a few others of such highest caliber.
